Zac Rue

Founder

‍Growing up, surrounded by the grit of rodeo culture and the quiet peace of the mountains, I learned early on that the best parts of life are found in the wild, shared with the people we love. My deep connection to family and country is the heartbeat of this foundation. It was built on a proud memory of my father-a veteran who embodied the spirit of service, strength, and adventure. Tracy Lynn Rue Adventures is my way of continuing to celebrate him and the values he stood for Whether we are navigating rugged mountain trails or sharing stories around a campfire, everything we do here is driven by a simple, unbreakable standard: Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.  To me, that motto isn't just about logistics; it's a promise to our community. It means that we, as an organization, promise to show up ready to put in the work to honor our mission. This foundation is more than a project; it is a living tribute to a beautiful life and a vehicle to give back to the community that raised us. We are just getting started, building from the ground up to ensure that future generations can experience the same freedom, camaraderie, and adventure that shaped our family.

Thank you for being part of the ride.

Growing up in Logan, Utah, as the daughter of a Marine veteran (3rd Marine Division), the mountains were my backyard. It was where my dad found his deepest peace, and where I learned firsthand how healing nature can be.
That connection to the outdoors and the military helped shape my  life. I am a retired military spouse, and my husband, Jeff—who also serves on this board—is a 100% service-disabled veteran. I understand the unique ride that military families go through, both the incredible bonds and the heavy challenges, including navigating PTSD.
Professionally, my heart has always been in helping others grow and transition. I started out as a teacher, and recently retired from my role as a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Counselor at Fort Eustis, Virginia, where I helped service members navigate the jump back into civilian life. I hold a BA in Art from Westminster College of SLC, UT and a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD
I’m also a certified silvotherapist (nature therapist), which means I’ve formally studied what my dad always knew intuitively: that spending time in the woods can ground us, reduce stress, and help us heal. I am so proud to support TLRue Adventure's mission and use my background to help military and veteran families find adventure, peace, and community in the great outdoors.
